Actress Nam Bo Ra says she was plagued with medical problems on the set of her recent television drama, the Korean Broadcasting System [KBS] series "Shark."
Actress Nam Bo Ra says she was plagued with medical problems on the set of her recent television drama, the Korean Broadcasting System [KBS] series “Shark.”
“My stamina is pretty weak,” Nam told the publication Sports Chosun, according to the website allkpop.
“Every time I film for a project, I always get an IV [Intravenous therapy] to alleviate the chances of getting sick. While I was filming for ‘Shark’ I had a really tight schedule so when I tried to digest, my body would be overwhelmed so I got food poisoning and herpes.”
Nam credits her experience suffering on set for teaching her how to bounce back quickly.
“Now if I collapse or feel hurt, I just get over it like it’s not a big deal,” she said.
The third installment in a trilogy by director Park Chan Hong and writer Kim Ji Woo, following the series “Resurrection” in 2005 and “The Devil” in 2007, “Shark” ran for 20 episodes from May to July.
Also known as “Don’t Look Back: The Legend of Orpheus” the plot of “Shark” focuses on the character of Han Yi Soo (played by Kim Nam Gil) as he attempts to avenge the family of hotel owners that killed his father, 12 years after it happened.
Nam played the central character’s sister, Han Yi Hyun.
The 23-year-old actress, who still gets cast as a high school student, explained how she maintained her youthful looks at a press conference back in June for the KBS program “Drama Special 2013.”
“I get that question a lot but there really is not a special secret,” Nam said, according to the website Soompi.
“If you had to find one, I guess it would be the ratio of my face. I heard that you look younger if your nose and chin are short. I am like that.”
And while the actress hopes that her younger roles won’t prevent her from getting more serious parts, she will take the compliment while she can get it.
“I do want to give my shot at more mature acting,” Nam said.
“However, I do not want to have to fabricate myself. There will be a time when people will start telling me that I will need to manage my looks, that is why I have decided to enjoy hearing that I have a youthful appearance.”
